HRDC Youth Employment Strategy The Youth Employment Strategy is the Government of Canada's action plan to boost the employability of young Canadians. It helps young people acquire the knowledge, skills, work experience, and career information to enter the work force. Primarily, there are four initiatives: Youth Internship Canada; Youth Service Canada; Student Summer Job Action and Information. |
Department of National Defence The Department of National Defence manages and directs the Canadian Forces. Canadian Forces is responsible for protecting Canada's interests and values abroad. At home it plays a significant role in combating drug smuggling, protecting Canada's fisheries and assisting civil authorities during natural disasters. There are approximately 130 careers to explore in Canada's Army, Navy, and Airforce. By joining the Canadian Forces, you can learn a specialized occupation with all expenses paid. Programmes like the Regular Officer Training Plan will pay for your university education plus you will graduate as an officer. |

BRITISH COLUMBIA INDUSTRY TRAINING AND APPRENTICESHIP COMMISSION (ITAC) Apprenticeship is a system of training, leading to certification in a designated trade, occupation or craft. ITAC was established as a partnership with business, labour, education and government. The commission is responsible for apprenticeship, entry-level trades training, and other industry training in BC. Its mandate is to promote trades and technical careers among young people. To this end, it expects to double the number of participants in the next five years.
ALBERTA HUMAN RESOURCES AND EMPLOYMENT The Alberta Human Resources and Employment Department maintains the Alberta Learning Information Service. The department also assists Albertans to enter the workforce by offering labour market information, work-ability assessments, career counseling and employment placement.
ALBERTA LEARNING INFORMATION SERVICE The Alberta Learning Information Service offers valuable information and resources to do with career planning, getting the education to follow the chosen career, and information about future employers. There are even employment classifieds from Alberta's major newspapers.
